After removal, Hall planners file court appeal

After they were removed by a vote of the Hall County Board of Commissioners earlier this month, three now-former Hall County planning commissioners have filed an appeal in court seeking an injunction against the county government.

Chris Braswell, Stan Hunt and Frank Sosebee were removed by a 4-0 vote of the board of commissioners on Jan. 8. The three were accused by a third-party investigator of violating the Georgia Open Meetings Act several times over the past year.

The month prior, the three had sought to prevent such a vote from taking place by filing an injunction against the county, arguing that the board of commissioners did not have a legal right to hold a hearing outlining evidence from the Buford law firm’s investigation against the planning commissioners.

That injunction was denied, however, by a judge who said that the three would need to exhaust their administrative options with the county before pursuing a judicial remedy. With the board of commissioners’ vote on Jan. 8, the three planning commissioners are now filing to appeal that decision…
