Ferndale Mexican Restaurant Closes After Less Than a Year

Anyone who operates a restaurant can tell you the countless challenges from meeting payroll, to managing staff and dealing with the rising cost of food, and getting customers through the door.

Carajillo Ferndale, a Mexican restaurant on Woodward in Ferndale, is the latest Metro Detroit restaurant to lose the battle and go under. The eatery, whose menu included gluten-free options and Mexican cocktails, has shut its doors after less than a year in business. It opened last February.

“We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who made this place what it was – our staff, our guests, and our community,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page on Jan. 9. “We may run out of food as the night goes on, but we’ll have margaritas and Carajillos ready. Come raise a glass, share a moment, and say goodbye with us.⁠ Gracias. Ara and Carajillo⁠.”…
