Fast response saves Grand Rapids apartment complex from major fire damage, no injuries

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An apartment complex in Grand Rapids sustained only minor damage from a fire thanks to a rapid response from firefighters on Friday.

Just after 7:30 p.m., the Grand Rapids Fire Department (GRFD) responded to a fourth-floor apartment fire at Adams Park Apartments after automatic fire alarms activated and multiple callers reported smoke and flames.

While en route, firefighters noticed flames coming from a fourth floor apartment. Crews made entry just before 7:45 p.m., and quickly knocked down a bedroom fire.

The fire was contained to the room it started in, and no injuries were reported, GRFD said in a release.
