CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — More changes are coming to Route 37 as the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) works to replace and rehabilitate bridges along the busy corridor.
The changes will go into effect Friday night at the Route 2 interchange in Cranston. RIDOT said two of the ramps will be closed and the travel lanes will be shifted so crews can start working on the structurally deficient bridge that carries Route 37 over Route 2.

The westbound side of the bridge will be demolished first. Westbound traffic will be moved onto the other side of the bridge, while eastbound travel will be reduced from two lanes to one.
On Route 37 East, Exit 1D will be closed. To access Route 2 in either direction, drivers will be directed to use Exit 1C, where a temporary traffic signal has been installed…
