The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be celebrated in San Diego Sunday and Monday with a series of community events.
On Sunday, the 44th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at the Embarcadero on Harbor Drive. The parade will include floats, high school bands, drill teams, colleges/universities, fraternities, sororities, churches and peace and youth organizations.
One of those floats will be designed and built by the San Diego College of Continuing Education’s welding students and faculty. The “Hope in Action: A Dream Still Unfolding” float will feature a giant unfolding pop-up book depicting Dr. King’s “Dream.”…
