Craft with others, learn about streaming
CANAL FULTON – The Canal Fulton Public Library, 154 Market St. NE, will offer the following programs:
- Friends Count, 10 a.m. Jan. 24: All skill levels of knitters, crocheters and any other needlecrafters can drop by and to socialize and work on their projects. No registration is needed.
- Cut the Cord, 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 26: Learn about streaming services available to you so you can ditch cable TV. Registration is required.
Apply to be Stark Library trustee
CANTON – The Stark Common Pleas Court is looking for applicants to join the Board of Library Trustees of the Stark Library. This is a four-year appointment starting April 28, and running until April 27, 2030.
The board consists of three members appointed by the court, and trustees must be qualified voters in the library district. They serve without pay but can be reimbursed for expenses. The Board meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 5 p.m., and all members serve on in various subcommittees.

‘Sinners’ at the Canton Palace
CANTON ‒ The Palace Theatre, 605 Market Ave. N, will show the movie “Sinners” at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 and 23, and at 2 p.m. Jan. 25. Tickets are $10 per person; seating is general admission. Tickets are available in advance and at the door starting 30 minutes before showtime.
Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital seeks volunteers
CANTON – Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital has volunteer opportunities for people looking to make a meaningful impact in their community. Volunteers provide non-clinical support to patients, visitors, and caregivers in various settings.
- Lobby greeter: Welcome and escort patients and visitors, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported.
- Caring canines: Certified therapy dogs and their owners visit patients and caregivers weekly for 90-minute shifts.
- Courtesy transport: Assist with wheelchair transport for discharged patients.
- Mercy boutique: Greet patients, assist with research packets, and answer calls.
- Clerical assignment (mail room): Help sort and organize mail in the hospital’s mail room.
- Plan of care visits: Use a prepared script to educate patients and families about their care plan.
- Comfort items distribution: Deliver comfort items, engage in social interaction, and offer supportive listening.
- Nursing unit: Assist with non-clinical tasks and provide support to patients and caregivers.
Dance on Wednesdays
CANTON – The public is invited to listen and dance to a live band from 1:30 to 4 p.m. each Wednesday at the Polish-American Club, 1605 Henry Ave. SW. Admission is $3, which includes snacks.
