Sunrise-based GL Homes has submitted plans for a single-family housing development in Miami-Dade County.
The Calusa community would comprise 540 single-family residences, with floorplans spanning 1,911 to 4,401 square feet. The expansive community would feature a host of communal amenities, such as tennis and pickleball courts, a swimming pool, and a fitness center.
The community would also have a nature aspect, with 12 lakes and a 6,400-square-foot rookery for tri-colored herons and other native birds. This is a key aspect of the project; local residents have voiced their concerns regarding overdevelopment and its effect on Florida’s wildlife.
