KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A vigil at the Sunsphere brought together friends, family and community members to remember former Knoxville Mayor Randy Tyree and the impact supporters say he left on the city.
Tyree’s daughter, Nikki Tyree, said the turnout and messages of support have helped her family through the loss.

“As a daughter, I was already kind of wondering how does one celebrate such a wonderful man as a father, but then trying to also celebrate a former mayor, that was a little daunting,” she said. “So just having everybody with such kind words and such wonderful things to say about him […] it really warmed my heart and made me feel like his legacy will live on.”
