Lansing Waverly earns rivalry win over Lansing Sexton

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – In the “Battle for Michigan Ave.” it was Waverly’s defense that stood tall late and propelled the Warriors over Lansing Sexton J-Dubbs 69-67.

Waverly was led by seniors Derek Thomas II who had a team-high 28 points, as well as Xavier Pendergrass who finished with 17 points, as Waverly earned its fifth-straight win.

“We’ve been talking about this game the last two weeks so being able to actually come out here and perform in front of everybody, in front of the whole city, against some people that we like but are still our rivals is really good,” said Thomas…
