Woman jailed after going on spending spree with Villager’s stolen credit card

A woman spent the weekend in jail after going on a spending spree with a Villager’s stolen credit card.

Stephanie Odell, 37, of Summerfield, was incarcerated at the Lake County Jail following her arrest on a warrant charging her with a felony charge of fraud.

In August, a Villager discovered fraudulent charges on his Discover credit card and reported the crime to the Lady Lake Police Department. He had been unaware of the transactions until receiving his credit card statement in the mail. The charges included $748 at Publix at La Plaza Grande, $208 at Ross Dress For Less at Rolling Acres Plaza and $127 at Bealls at La Plaza Grande. There was also a charge at Walmart in Summerfield, which was outside the Lady Lake Police Department’s jurisdiction.

Odell, who has a previous criminal history, was identified in part due to her distinctive tattoos. Images of her making the purchases were captured on store surveillance cameras…
