Isle of Wight brush fire scorches 400 acres

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. — A brush fire in Isle of Wight County burned an estimated 400 acres on Saturday.

The fire in the 10000 block of Mill Swamp Road was first reported at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, and it was marked under control just before 6 p.m. Isle of Wight Fire-Rescue Chief Garry Windley said about 75 firefighters from throughout the region responded.

Windley said the affected area was primarily 3- to 30-year-old pine trees. There were no injuries and no structures burned…
