Laurens Electric Cooperative is offering nine local students an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. or Columbia, S.C. this summer.
Requirements for the annual Washington Youth Tour and Cooperative Youth Summit contests include submitting an application and participating in a video interview process. After co-op officials judge the entrants, nine students will be awarded one of the two trips, which begin June 14 and July 13, respectively.
Students within the cooperative’s service area who are in their junior year in high school are eligible to apply for the Washington Youth Tour. Participants will travel with other South Carolina students to Washington, D.C. where they will meet with their state representatives and senators, visit many historical sites, learn about cooperatives and spend time with other students from across the country…
