Priceville officer involved in deadly crash sues city, officials for wrongful termination and alleged retaliation

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – A Priceville police officer who was involved in a deadly crash filed a lawsuit against the city and officials for wrongful termination and alleged retaliation for exposing internal misconduct.

Priceville Police Officer Garry Chapman filed the lawsuit against the City of Priceville, Mayor Sam Heflin, former Chief Jerry Holmes, City Attorney Woody Sanderson, and Sergeant Jason Wigginton.

In the federal lawsuit obtained by WAFF 48, Chapman filed the lawsuit because he alleges that after becoming a top-performing police officer, city officials orchestrated his termination, public vilification, and professional blacklisting in retaliation for reporting internal misconduct, including planned fraud involving a department K-9, misuse of federal seizure funds, and database security violations…
