Shannon Gilday status hearing set in Madison County

RICHMOND, Ky. (FOX 56) — A status hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday for Shannon Gilday, the man accused of killing the daughter of a Kentucky lawmaker inside her home in 2022.

The hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 20. A judge is expected to rule on a defense motion for a change of venue filed Jan. 15.

Gilday was accused of breaking into the home of Rep. Wesley Morgan on Feb. 22, 2022, and fatally shooting Morgan’s daughter, Jordan Morgan, 32, while she slept. Authorities said she was shot at least 11 times.

In May 2022, Gilday attempted to enter a guilty but mentally ill plea, but a Madison Circuit Court judge rejected it. In June 2025, three mental health experts testified in the case. Two experts said Gilday suffers from schizoaffective disorder, while a third disagreed with that diagnosis…
