New State Databank Unveiled In Iowa During Property Tax Debate

(Des Moines, IA) — Lowering property taxes in Iowa has to be done on both the state and local levels. That’s why Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is urging taxpayers to visit a new, online tax databank that shows local spending.

The databank shows historical property tax rates, inflation, population and assessed property valuation for each city in Iowa. The dashboard also allows a comparison between two towns.

Reynolds says the state has already saved millions of dollars by consolidating services and cutting waste. “The state can enact property tax reform but there are only so many levers we can pull to do that,” Reynolds said…
