The discovery of a mismatched license plate led to a reckless high-speed chase west of the City of Fond du Lac on Sunday, ending with the arrest of the felon driver and his four passengers.
The deputy conducting the stop was approaching the vehicle when the 20-year-old driver from Black Creek, Wisconsin fled, eventually heading westbound on Highway 23 and then making multiple U-turns while avoiding spike strips, and at times driving head-on at deputies. The chase lasted nearly 25 minutes and covered some 24 miles, ending when the vehicle entered a ditch and came to rest near a pole shed on a farmstead.
