LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Hundreds of people joined city officials and religious leaders at the 7th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Service held at St. Mark Baptist Church on Sunday, honoring King’s life and legacy and considering Little Rock’s ongoing efforts to promote unity.
Pastor Phillip Pointer Sr. said the event is about more than remembering the past.
“Not just remembering what has happened in the past, but also being responsible with our presence so we can ensure a better future,” Pointer said.
