Tragedy Strikes Universal Orlando: Woman Dies After Mummy Ride

ORLANDO, FL – A 70-year-old woman visiting Universal Orlando passed away in November after riding the “Revenge of the Mummy” roller coaster, according to a recent state report. The incident, detailed in a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) report released Thursday, notes that the woman became unresponsive on November 25, 2025, while on the indoor attraction and later died at a local hospital. The official cause of death has not been released.

“Revenge of the Mummy,” an indoor roller coaster inspired by “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns” films, can reach speeds up to 45 mph. Since its opening in 2004, the ride has been associated with 21 reported incidents, ranging from minor ailments like nausea and dizziness to more severe issues such as a seizure and a vertebral fracture.

Universal Orlando has not yet responded to requests for comment.

The FDACS report compiles incidents from major amusement parks that operate with their own full-time safety inspectors and are thus exempt from state inspections, requiring them to self-report any incidents quarterly.

During the same October to December 2025 reporting period, Walt Disney World reported six health-related incidents. Other prominent Florida parks, including SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Legoland, reported no incidents.

This tragedy follows another recent death at Universal Orlando. Just months prior, on September 17, 2025, 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died after becoming unresponsive on the “Stardust Racers” roller coaster at the park’s new Epic Universe.

Authorities reported Zavala sustained multiple blunt force injuries on the dual-launch ride before his death at a hospital. Attorneys representing Zavala’s family claim Universal overlooked “multiple” warning signs and that similar injuries have been reported by other riders.
