Perry gifted himself Rozie for Christmas when she was only 8 weeks old. After a year-long certification process with Therapy Dogs International, the golden retriever began her career as a therapy dog at Harmony Hill School in 2014.

She spent her days greeting students and staff, visiting classrooms, playing games and providing comfort to anyone who needed it. She especially loved the school’s lunch lady, Miss Judy.

“She went to school and saw students right up until the end,” Perry told NEWS10. “She didn’t care who you were, she would accept your pets, probably lean on you (her middle name was Ilean) and remember you forever. She accepted everyone and helped thousands.”

Rozie was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her nose in October 2025. The vet had reportedly said that she may not make it through the holidays, but she pulled through.
