Police: Amazon employee shot and killed in parking lot at Bessemer facility

BESSEMER, Ala. — An Amazon employee was shot and killed Sunday night in the parking lot of an Amazon fulfillment center in Bessemer, according to the Bessemer Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the Amazon Warehouse at 975 Powder Plant Road around 10:40 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2026, after receiving a report of a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tyler Neil Alexander, 19, of Birmingham. The coroner said Alexander sustained gunshot wound injuries during a reported assault. His death is being investigated as a homicide…
