(WBFF) — Baltimore’s crime rates have surged at the start of 2026, reversing the city’s previous year’s decline.
According to the latest data from the Baltimore Police Department, crime citywide has increased in nearly a dozen categories over a seven-day period compared to the same time in January 2025. Larcenies are up 18%, larceny from auto has risen 31%, and larceny of vehicle parts has jumped 32%.
In Southeast Baltimore, a resident reported the theft of a radar sensor from her vehicle, a crime that has affected others in the area. “And then when I was at the car dealership getting it fixed, I think a neighbor of mine was actually at the car dealership too with the same exact issue that lives like two streets down,” she said.
