Clear skies and new moon set stage for potential Northern Lights display across the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — There is a chance we could get a good viewing of the aurora borealis later tonight across the Carolinas.

There is currently a significant solar radiation storm taking place, the strongest in 23 years. This could lead to the Northern Lights being viewed in unexpected places Monday night.

If this trend continues, the Northern Lights may be visible across the Carolinas tonight. Clear skies and a new moon will lead to perfect viewing conditions if this does occur.

The best viewing time appears to be after 10 to 11 pm Monday night, possibly even earlier…
