HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Buddhist monks are making the next leg of their journey across the nation, and they’re officially in the Piedmont Triad.
The Walk for Peace is officially in Greensboro as of Monday night. During an event, Greensboro Mayor Marikay Abuzuaiter declared Jan. 19 as Walk for Peace Day.
Around 9:30 a.m., the City of High Point shared a video of the walk making its way through High Point.
Their journey began Oct. 26, 2025, at a Vietnamese Buddhist temple in Texas and is scheduled to end in mid-February in Washington, D.C., where they will ask Congress to recognize Buddha’s day of birth and enlightenment as a federal holiday…
