Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – A prolonged stretch of arctic cold is expected to grip Pennsylvania late this week, bringing near-zero overnight temperatures, dangerous wind chills, and a chance of snow that could complicate travel across the state. Overnight lows are expected to fall to around 1 degree in many areas, with daytime highs struggling through the teens as the cold settles in through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, the coldest period is expected from Saturday through Tuesday as a polar air mass spreads across the Mid-Atlantic. Gusty northwest winds will push wind chill values down to between 15 and 25 degrees below zero at times, especially overnight and during the early morning hours.
