Man injured in Hunting Park shooting; officer discharged weapon during incident

An investigation is underway after a man was injured during a shooting in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia that also involved an officer firing their weapon.

Police say officers responded around 8:30 p.m. following reports of an altercation between two men near Broad and West Jerome streets.

According to sources, shots were already being fired as officers arrived, prompting one officer to discharge their weapon.

A man was shot in the torso during the incident, but investigators have not yet determined whether he was struck by the officer’s bullet. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition…
