Semi-truck fire on southbound Turnpike causes delays near Boynton Beach, blocks 2 lanes

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A vehicle fire on Florida’s Turnpike caused significant delays near Boynton Beach on Monday afternoon, blocking two right southbound lanes before Mile Marker 85.

According to Florida 511, the incident was first reported at 1 p.m. with crews arriving to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the shoulder. A CBS12 News reporter passing the scene recorded Palm Beach County Fire Rescue extinguishing the remnants of the trailer.

Traffic cameras in the area showed smoke drifting across the roadway as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined…
