After 32 years living in ‘deplorable’ conditions, Walker widow moves into new home thanks to community support

WALKER — For Letha Golmond, the keys she held in her hand marked far more than a move-in day. They symbolized healing, hope, and the power of a community that refused to let her walk alone.

After two and a half long years of paperwork, setbacks, prayer, and perseverance, Golmond officially moved into her new home this week, overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. Standing inside a house she never imagined possible, Golmond said the journey tested her faith and ultimately strengthened it.

“We moved in officially today. It’s been a journey — the journey,” Golmond said. “I never thought it would make it to this day, but it did. And I’m just grateful.”

Living in Unsafe Conditions for Decades
