Rockford mom invents PeerSip, a germ-free sharing cup

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – If you’re a parent, you’ve likely tried to enjoy a drink when your little one begs for ‘just one sip’. What you didn’t know is they have a cold brewing. and before you know it, your entire household is sick.

That’s where Annette Carmichael’s PeerSip comes in. This 40-ounce cup is designed to make drink sharing with children and families convenient, hygienic and germ-free. Each cup features a customizable lid with 2, 3 or 4 spouts, each equipped with a one-way check valve.

“Sharing the cup is perfectly viable option without sharing the backwash because that one-way check valve will stop the backwash from going down into the cup,” explained Carmichael.

Carmichael balances a full plate every day: Not only is she a parent but a full-time clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois Chicago. Now she’s added inventor to her menu of accomplishments. To balance it all, she says, comes with time management and little hacks…
