Barksdale Air Force Base says no cause for concern after unusual aircraft sighting

BOSSIER CITY, La. — A pair of unusual aircraft drew attention over Barksdale Air Force Base on Monday. Barksdale’s 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs office says, “there’s no cause for concern.”

A viewer shared a photo of what’s commonly known as the “Doomsday Plane” — the Boeing E‑4B National Airborne Operations Center — flying over the base. The aircraft arrived just before 12:30 p.m.

The E‑4B is a militarized Boeing 747 designed to serve as a survivable, airborne command center for national leaders during a major crisis. The Air Force describes it as a worldwide, enduring command post for the President, Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, capable of directing U.S. strategic forces if ground command centers are destroyed…
