Man to be sentenced in dirt bike crash that injured UAlbany student

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – A Watervliet man who was found guilty of seriously injuring a UAlbany student with his dirt bike and leaving the scene is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday morning.

Austin Breyette hit Alexa Kropf with his bike on Hudson Avenue in May 2024. Prosecutors said Breyette was speeding and driving recklessly. After the crash, he attempted to cover up his actions by deleting his social media accounts, getting rid of his clothes and the bike, selling his car and denying his involvement to the police.

The defense had argued that it was an accident. They said that Kropf was intoxicated and had stepped into the road. Breyette did not have time to react…
