JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Elected leaders held a gas giveaway Monday as a way to show service to others.
People lined up at two gas stations to receive $25 worth of gas per vehicle. Congresswoman Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, was one of the sponsors.

“On Martin Luther King’s birthday, it’s important not only to celebrate his life and legacy, but for all of us to rededicate ourselves, recommit ourselves for the cause for which he fought, and that was for our beloved community,” Sewell said. “And what better way to show we love our community than to offer public service.”
