One suffers burns in West Ashley townhome fire, Charleston firefighters say

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of an early-morning West Ashley townhome fire that has displaced eight people.

Firefighters say one person suffered burns to their hands in the fire at a home in the 1800 block of Mepkin Road, near the West Ashley Advanced Studies Magnet School.

The earliest reports of the fire came in to dispatchers at approximately 5:10 a.m.

As many as 30 emergency response vehicles, including units from the Saint Andrews Fire Department, Charleston Police and Charleston County EMS, worked the scene…
