Family escapes devastating house fire in Dayton, loses nearly all belongings

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF)– One family is now trying to pick up the pieces after a fire destroyed their home early Monday morning. The family told Dayton 24/7 Now’s, Kysha Hancock this whole incident is devastating.

Cory McGuffey told Hancock it was a normal day when he woke up at 6 a.m. He started to recognize a burn smell that he described as burning popcorn. That’s when he and his partner started searching the house, only to discover a fire had started in the home.

“There was a massive flame outside the window, I tried putting it out with some water because it looked kind of small at first and then as I was doing that part of the roof fell in, the inside of the wall was just filled with fire,’ McGuffey…
