Grand Rapids police cleared in deadly shootout, prosecutor says

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Three Grand Rapids police officers have been cleared in the fatal shooting of a motorist who fired at police during a traffic stop.

Martin Martinez-Salazar, 51, was fatally shot the afternoon of Dec. 6, in the 1600 block of Tremont Boulevard NW.

Police stopped his vehicle because he had threatened his wife with a gun, was suicidal and posed a danger to himself and others, Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker said in a written opinion…
