Demolition of buildings at former Harrisburg Hospital nearly complete

Thousands of people who passed the Harrisburg State Hospital on their way to the Pennsylvania Farm Show might have been startled at how the property had been transformed in the past year.

The state began preparing the site for redevelopment in early 2025. Now that preparation, which includes demolition of 37 obsolete buildings, is 75% complete, said the state Department of General Services.
