Showers return midweek ahead of weekend’s winter system

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Weather Authority is closely monitoring a couple of weather systems this week that will bring impactful weather to the region.

While rain showers will return on Wednesday, the greater threat will arrive by the weekend as the first winter system moves through the region.

After a dry and mostly sunny start to the week, a cold front will track through the region late Wednesday, leading to the return of rain showers.

Clouds will increase in cover on Wednesday morning, with isolated showers possible by the evening commute. Showers become more widely scattered during the overnight hours into the early morning commute on Thursday. Rain will be light in intensity with isolated downpours possible. Rain totals up to 0.25 inches will be possible, with isolated higher totals possible.
