Driver killed after car left roadway, hit tree near I-5/I-80 interchange

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man was killed after his vehicle left the roadway at the I-5/I-80 freeway interchange in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers say the crash occurred as the driver was transitioning from northbound Interstate 5 to eastbound Interstate 80. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, described as a man in his 30s, was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved…
