Health code inspectors in Monroe County were busy last month checking to make sure each restaurant and other non-food spots that prepare food, like schools and jails, meet certain safety standards. Many restaurants passed with flying colors.
There is also a long list of those who did not pass. Health code inspectors in Monroe County will give restaurants violations for things like “Single service items reused, improperly stored, dispensed, not used when required,” and “Insects, rodents present.”
Those violations are considered non-critical. Restaurants can get critical violations, such as “Potentially hazardous foods are not stored under refrigeration except during necessary preparation or approved precooling procedures (room temperature storage).”…
