‘It can be right next door’: Advocates work to raise awareness of human trafficking in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Organizations in Tulsa are working to educate the community about human trafficking and support victims who may not realize they’re being trafficked.

Ascension St. John’s Education and Response Team

At Ascension St. John, a specialized Human Trafficking Education and Response Program works to identify victims and connect them with help. Since the program started in 2018, the staff has provided resources to more than 400 suspected victims.

“Human trafficking is something that exists in Oklahoma,” said Sara Gadd, the Human Trafficking Program Manager. “It can be right next door. It’s not just some far-off thing. It’s something you see every day.”…
