Tuesday’s Five Facts
[1] New Mexico legislative session begins – The 30-day legislative session begins Tuesday in Santa Fe. KRQE News 13 will be keeping track of the latest news from the Roundhouse in Santa Fe. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is set kick off the session with the state of the state address.
[2] Governor signs order to end overnight foster child stays at state buildings – Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is now giving the New Mexico Children, Youth, and Families Department a month and a half to completely end allowing foster kids to sleep in CYFD offices overnight. The executive order gives CYFD until March 1 to place all children in their care in “appropriate care settings.” The state claims the practice started due to a shortage of safe placements and foster families.
[3] Dry conditions with passing clouds & still mild weather – Temperatures will start to rebound Tuesday and into Wednesday as upper-level winds increase out of the west-northwest.
