45-year-old man killed in hit-and-run on Rivers Avenue identified by county officials

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The 45-year-old man who died as a result of a hit-and-run in North Charleston was identified Tuesday by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.

Jose N. Gonzalez-Cervera died as a result of “blunt force injuries” from an auto-pedestrian crash on Rivers Avenue and Hawthorne Drive, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said.

According to officials, the crash transpired at 7:46 p.m. on Jan. 1. Police said an unknown vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled the scene…
