Fort Wayne, Indiana — Snow is expected to move into the Fort Wayne area early Wednesday, followed by several days of dangerously cold temperatures late this week into the weekend.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Northern Indiana office, snow will arrive after midnight tonight and continue through Wednesday morning, with 1 to 3 inches possible in the Fort Wayne area. Higher totals of 3 to 6 inches are expected farther north into southwest Lower Michigan, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. EST Wednesday.
In Fort Wayne and surrounding Allen County, snow combined with southerly wind gusts up to 25–30 mph may lead to reduced visibility and slick roads, particularly during the Wednesday morning commute.
After the snow exits, attention turns to an extended period of bitter cold. Forecasters say the coldest air so far this winter will arrive Thursday night, with daytime highs Friday only in the single digits and overnight lows falling below zero.
