Greenville, South Carolina — Confidence continues to increase that a winter storm will impact the Greenville area this weekend, with wintry precipitation possible from late Friday night through Sunday.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service Greenville–Spartanburg office, snow or sleet could begin as early as late Friday night, with the most likely period for impacts occurring Saturday into Saturday night. Precipitation may not fully taper off until Sunday, depending on how the system evolves.
Forecast confidence graphics highlight the potential for at least 1 inch of total snow or sleet between 7 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Monday. Forecasters note that one inch of snow, especially when mixed with sleet, is sufficient to cause minor to moderate travel impacts, particularly on untreated roads, bridges, and elevated surfaces.
While some degree of winter weather impact appears likely across the region, the National Weather Service cautions that confidence remains low on exact precipitation types and amounts.
