Update from snowy pileup on Pa. highway: 13 people hurt, 11 vehicles involved

A chain-reaction crash on Interstate 78 during Saturday’s snow involved 11 vehicles and injured 13 motorists, including suspected serious injuries to one person, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash about 7:50 a.m. closed I-78 West through Berks County for seven hours, state police at Hamburg said.

At mile-marker 39.1 just east of Hausman Road in Greenwich Township, a westbound Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling too fast for the snow-covered highway slid uncontrolled into the center concrete median, police said…
