The search for missing 13-year-old Helen Galvez ended on a hopeful note as the young girl was found safe with the help of the United Cajun Navy. A Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory, initially issued by the Louisiana State Police on behalf of the New Orleans Police Department, is now canceled following her discovery. Earlier reports provided by the Louisiana State Police had specified that Galvez was last seen at her Old Gentilly Road residence in New Orleans at roughly 6:50 p.m., before the alert went out at 1:02 a.m. Described as a Hispanic female with brown eyes and black, curly hair, standing 5’0” and weighing approximately 120 pounds, there was an immediate concern for her safety.
