(KMDL-FM) If you get into a conversation with anyone and they realize that you are from Louisiana, eventually the course of the conversation will shift to food. While New Orleans is known for the sizzle and the show that comes with dining, other places in the state have earned an epicurean reputation of their own. Perhaps, “epicurean” is a little too highfalutin; we should just call them what they are, diners.
Every small town and every large town that was once small has a diner that seems to define the spirit of the community. In the South, there is a level of loyalty attached to these small-town eateries that, over time, has taken the establishment from a simple place to eat to iconic status.
