Major bookstore set to open first new Ohio location this year

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — Barnes & Noble will open a new bookstore in Strongsville on Jan. 28, filling a retail hole that has existed since Borders closed 15 years ago, according to a news release.

The 26,000-square-foot store will occupy the former Bed Bath & Beyond space at The Plaza at Southpark, 16700 Royalton Road, next to Petco. Doors will open at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring author Misty Wilson, who will sign copies of her book “Falling Like Leaves.” Children’s character Pete the Cat will also appear during opening festivities.

The Strongsville store will offer books, toys, games, magazines, gifts and a café. Opening-week promotions include $50 off NOOK devices and 40% off DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K Ultra HD movies. Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards members will also earn double stamps on purchases made between Jan. 28 and Feb. 1…
