Saratoga Co. unveils new narcotics, special investigations bureau

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — There’s a new bureau in Saratoga County dedicated to tackling narcotics, illegal firearms, sex, and human trafficking. The Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office said on Wednesday that a county prosecutor with 15 years of experience will lead the new Narcotics and Special Investigations Bureau.

The bureau’s goal is to dismantle the county’s organized crime groups that profit from selling narcotics, possessing illegal firearms, and the exploitation of victims through sex and human trafficking, the DA’s office said. Saratoga County Prosecutor Meghan A. Horton will lead the new bureau, as the DA’s office said Horton has a record of success when it comes to complex investigations and felony trials.

District Attorney Brett Eby said Horton has sharp investigative skills and a relentless work ethic. Horton is a member of the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force and, through her career, has gained experience drafting search warrants, getting chase orders, and leading several investigations.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead the Narcotics and Special Investigations Bureau,” Horton said. “I am ready to take on this responsibility and to work aggressively with our law enforcement partners to protect the public, pursue justice for victims, and hold dangerous offenders accountable.”…
