Ecusta Trail ‘Your speed’ signs installed amid sustained popularity

HENDERSONVILLE – As the mixed-use recreation Ecusta Trail reaches the six-month mark since its opening last summer, Henderson County and the nonprofit behind it are continuing to make tweaks amid sustained popularity.

“We had a lot of people walking on it at the beginning, huge numbers, and those huge numbers are still there in the winter,” Henderson County Parks and Recreation Director Bruce Gilliam told the Times-News Jan. 20.

The Ecusta Trail is a mixed-use recreation path built along a defunct railbed which, once it’s completed over the next few years, is set to connect Hendersonville and Brevard. It’s funded by a $45 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Times-News previously reported…
