Calera Police Conduct K-9 School Sweep, Make Multiple Arrests in Busy Day of Operations

The Calera Police Department reported a busy day Tuesday involving patrol officers, school resource officers and investigators, with multiple operations taking place across the city.

As part of ongoing efforts to keep drugs and guns out of schools, Calera Police conducted a planned K-9 sweep at Calera High School. The department said the sweep was part of its continued focus on maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff.

Earlier in the day, patrol officers also located and arrested a fugitive wanted out of Mississippi on felony charges related to theft of welfare funds and failure to appear in court. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is expected to be extradited back to Mississippi.
